ASEAN NETWORK NEWS | Indonesia’s new capital city, Nusantara (IKN), recently became the stage for a spectacular aerial display. Held as part of the celebration of the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the skies above IKN were filled with breathtaking aerobatic maneuvers performed by Indonesian Air Force fighter aircraft.
The Garuda Flight and The Jupiters served as the main attractions of the event. The Garuda Flight formation, consisting of nine F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets, executed a series of complex aerial maneuvers, including the High-G Turn, High-Speed Spiral Climb, and Bomb Burst. Meanwhile, The Jupiters, flying six KT-1B Woongbi trainer aircraft, captivated spectators with their precise and elegant aerobatic performance.
One of the most memorable moments came when the F-16 flight leader, Lieutenant Colonel (Pnb) Anwar Sovie, delivered an Independence Day greeting directly from his cockpit. The message further reinforced the spirit of patriotism and national pride in the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU).
The success of the air demonstration was the result of meticulous planning and strong coordination. Air Commodore (Marsma TNI) Azhar Aditama, Chief of Staff of the Air Operations Command II (Koops Udara II) and the event’s Airshow Director, played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of the performance. Under his leadership, every maneuver was carried out safely, precisely, and on schedule.
More than just an aerial spectacle, the airshow served as a showcase of the Indonesian Air Force’s operational readiness and capability in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. It also functioned as an educational platform, particularly for younger generations, highlighting the strategic importance of the Indonesian Air Force in national defense.
The successful air demonstration over IKN is expected to further strengthen the spirit of patriotism among Indonesians. It stands as a clear testament to Indonesia’s highly skilled human resources and its growing technological capabilities.
