Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul began an official visit to Indonesia on Monday (August 3), where he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
The visit, which runs from August 3 to 4, 2026, marks the first official visit by a Thai prime minister to Indonesia in 15 years and Anutin's first trip to the country since taking office in September 2025.
President Prabowo is set to welcome Prime Minister Anutin for a bilateral meeting focused on strengthening Indonesia–Thailand relations. A key agenda item is the launch of the Indonesia–Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030, which will serve as a framework for cooperation over the next five years.
The roadmap is expected to cover three main pillars: security cooperation, economic development, and socio-cultural collaboration. Both leaders are also scheduled to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues, including cross-border crime prevention, trade and investment, food and energy security, people-to-people exchanges, and cooperation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed that President Prabowo would receive Prime Minister Anutin at the Merdeka Palace on Monday afternoon as part of the official state visit.
Prime Minister Anutin is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, while President Prabowo will be joined by several senior cabinet members, including Foreign Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
In addition to the state meeting, Anutin is scheduled to attend the Indonesia–Thailand Business Forum aimed at promoting bilateral trade and investment. He will also deliver a speech at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta on the future of ASEAN and the challenges facing the region.
Ahead of the visit, Jakarta authorities implemented temporary traffic management measures on several major roads to facilitate the movement and security of the visiting delegation.
Prime Minister Anutin's visit will conclude on August 4. The outcomes of the bilateral meeting, including the implementation of the Indonesia–Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030 and any agreements reached during the visit, are expected to shape future cooperation between the two countries.
