Iranian Defense Ministry spokesman Reza Talaei-Nik said on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, that Tehran had prepared potential targets for retaliation should the United States or Israel launch another attack.
According to Iranian media reports cited by Anadolu Agency, Talaei-Nik said any renewed aggression would receive a “decisive response” and could result in heavier losses for Iran’s adversaries. He added that Iranian forces had been equipped with upgraded missile and drone capabilities, air-defense systems, and other military equipment.
Talaei-Nik also claimed that Iran’s capacity to produce weapons, defense equipment, and ammunition has risen 2.5 times compared with levels before the war, which began on February 28, 2026.
He said production of some types of weapons had increased by more than three times. According to the Iranian defense official, more than 1,000 weapons systems, equipment categories, and types of ammunition are currently within the production capabilities of the Defense Ministry and its network of partners.
The figures are claims from Iranian authorities and have not been independently verified.
Talaei-Nik said Iranian military authorities had already identified potential targets that could be attacked in response to renewed strikes.
His remarks came amid speculation over possible attacks on Kuh-e Kolang, also known as Pickaxe Mountain. He said Iran had prepared its armed forces for possible escalation and had strengthened its missile, drone, naval, ground, and air capabilities.
The warning follows months of conflict between Iran and a US-Israeli military campaign. The fighting has involved strikes on Iranian military and nuclear facilities, followed by Iranian missile and drone attacks against Israel and US military positions in the region.
Iran also said its defense cooperation with Russia and China remained active despite the conflict.
Talaei-Nik claimed that strategic cooperation with Moscow and Beijing had neither stopped nor declined. He said political and defense exchanges were continuing under existing agreements, while consultations in some areas had increased.
Iran’s statements come as tensions remain high and negotiations aimed at ending the conflict continue to face uncertainty. US President Donald Trump said on October 6 that Washington would have to decide how to conclude the conflict, while Iranian and Qatari officials continued exchanging messages as part of diplomatic efforts.
